According to the official WhatsApp blog, the feature to ignore unknown callers is now accessible to all users through the latest updates: WhatsApp for Android 2.23.12.77 and WhatsApp for iOS 23.12.71.

To access this feature, navigate to the Privacy section in your WhatsApp Settings. You will find a new option called “Silence unknown calls” at the bottom. Enabling this option will automatically silence incoming calls from unfamiliar numbers. However, you will still receive notifications for these calls and can view them in the Calls tab.

Proactive measures to Ignore Spam Calls With Ease

WhatsApp has taken proactive measures to tackle the problem of spam calls by introducing an in-built spam call filter. Although it cannot promise complete elimination, this feature aims to significantly reduce the issue. Additionally, WhatsApp has recently implemented backend changes to effectively combat spam.

Furthermore, a new Privacy Checkup feature has been introduced in the Privacy section. This feature offers users a step-by-step guide to utilize WhatsApp’s existing privacy and security features to their advantage. Users now have greater control over their contacts, the ability to personalize their details, enhance chat privacy, and add an extra layer of protection to their account.

The privacy checkup feature is not intended as a call-to-action function, but rather as a tool for users to review their current WhatsApp settings and make any necessary adjustments.
